X-Mini Happy Speaker Player
The X-Mini Happy speakers are a great option for those people that don't want to buy a separate player and speakers. The speakers feature a built in mp3 player while music can be added with an SD card. The company provides a 2GB card to get you started.
X-Mini Happy Description
The X-mini is shaped like ball when it is closed for transport and measures just 1.6 inches in height and has a 2.2 inch diameter. When in use the player opens up to about 2.5 inches in height. On the bottom of the speaker a standard 3.5mm jack is provided to connect the speaker to and external device. Playback control buttons such as volume adjustment and forward and reverse are provided on the base of the speaker along with the power switch.
The expandable accordion design of the speaker does allow it to have a powerful sub woofer but at the same time makes it inconvenient to be carried in one's pocket. An LED light is also provided which shows when the speaker is charging, on or in use. The player is able to provide up to 5 hours of playback while using the internal player and up to 11 hours while using an external source.
X-Mini Happy's Performance
While the player might be small in size to have a speaker included do not get fooled. The player is able to provide decent quality audio at fairly reasonable volumes.
While the player might be able to boast quality sound where it is let down is the Mp3 player itself. If you are looking for a player that will give you a variety of play back options or ease of use, this is not the device for you. The built in player is quite basic in its capabilities.
There is no navigation option or organization feature. The player is on permanent shuffle mode. Another issue with the player is that by default it starts off at the maximum volume which can be somewhat of an inconvenience.
The Good
The size and the audio quality of the X-Mini Happy speakers is quite good considering the price range of under $100. The player comes with a card so there is no additional requirements before it can be used. The built in slot to connect additional media also makes it very convenient to use the player in any and all situations.
The Bad
While the sound quality is good, the player is let down by the functionality of the mp3 player. With such basics as navigation missing from the feature list this speaker player combination is behind the market.
The Verdict
For someone who is looking for a small and compact player that can be used to play music in the background, the X-Mini Happy speaker is just what they are looking for. However for those individuals that want to have more control over how they listen to their music the X-Mini Happy speaker will fall short. These people would be better served if they bought the individual components.
