The Cowon D2+ MP3 player is the latest temptation for music lovers. It comes with extremely superior quality audio. There are numerous extra features in this MP3 player like touch screen, SD card slot, 74m W powerful sound, virtual click and powerful multimedia function.
Design and Features
The Cowon D2+ MP3 player is an advanced MP3 player. The silver metallic finish of Cowon D2+ adds to its sleek appearance and style. The display screen is 2.5 inches wide and the player is 51 mm in width and 38 mm in height.
The menu is simple, the controls easy to use. The ease of use score for the player is 74%. Most of the features are controlled using the touch screen interface.
Though the iPod does not support a wide variety of audio formats, main file formats such as APE, FLAC, MP3, OGG, WAV, WMA work excellently. BMP, JPEG file formats are supported for images. Xvid and WMV video file formats are supported. AVI, WMV file formats are supported for multimedia also.
The battery life is excellent and lasts up to 9 hours. The MP3 player uses flash memory and additional SD card slots are also available. The MP3 player could be fit in easily to a system with windows 98 also. This helps in sharing data very easily.
Performance
The audio quality in Cowon D2+ is excellent. There is limited amount of video storage also. The display screen is 2.5 inch long. It is scratch resistant and responds amazingly to our fingertips. Nearly all the features are controlled through touch screen. Hence the buttons in the MP3 player are minimized.
The Cowon D2+ MP3 player allows us to search and download all latest music albums available in the field. There is a music browser and WMDRM 10 support which makes browsing and sorting music easier. There is a special service called LDB or Lyric Data Base which allow the user to read the lyrics of the song when it is played.
There is a rich Line in recording option which allows the user to record sound output from CDP, MD and TV. This option could also be used to record normal voice, as there is a built in microphone. Cowon Media-Center jet-audio is a one stop for all multimedia activities done through the phone.
60,000 titles of audio books are available to choose from. In addition there is a specialized FM radio. Certain stations could be scheduled to play at specific time through once set up. Dynamic multipurpose playlists can be created to serve the users choice.

The good
The stylish, improved look of the MP3 player is very attractive and comes in a choice of 4 colors. The home page and other settings cab be easily customized. There is a built in FM radio with an exceptionally good radio tuner. The menu controls are easy to use.
The audio and video podcast support is also an added advantage. The 2.5inch display screen allows the user to avail the best of the video. The audio and video quality is chiseled to near perfection. The sound quality score is 67% while the video quality is rated 43%.
SD memory card slot and very good battery life are the player's highlights. Easy sharing of images and videos on net is another great advantage. Video conversion in one step is another good feature. The adorable stylus/touch pen which serves as a stand also, is an attractive addition.
The not so good
Although there is a large screen to view the videos, the content and pixilation are not up to scratch and it is a bit fuzzy. The audio quality is also rated average only. The multimedia facilities do not seem to show enough effect on the QVGA 320x250 resolution screen and the touch screen feature is a bit hard to use sometimes because of the MP3 players small size.
Areas that can be improved
The small screen with poor resolution could be improved with a little work. Frequent firmware upgrades should be made to avail the full advantages. Otherwise the player's usage is limited. Importantly, many high quality audio file formats are not supported.
Verdict
Cowon D2+ is a very good MP3 player with high quality audio output, touch screen and excellently tunable FM radio. Cowon D2+ has the best FM tuner technology. Added to this there are additional facilities like one step video conversion. The MP3 player is compatible with advanced operating systems like Macintosh and Linux as well as older OS versions like windows 98.
