Creative Labs have launched their next unique, trendy and distinctive MP3 player in Zen series. This large but cute MP3 player with its one-of-a-kind design comes with plenty of special features and works better than its former versions.
The ZEN Mozaic MP3 player has a mosaic keypad with flash memory. The MP3 player itself is very fast functioning. Photos are displayed with a clear sharpness and clarity. Music is played with immense clarity and detail. The MP3 player is cool in functioning as well as distinct in appearance.
Description and features
Creative Zen Mozaic has a unique mosaic style design and comes in three different colors black, silver and pink. There are nine colored tiled keys at the bottom of the screen. There is a center select button surrounded by four arrow keys, and four outer corner buttons for back, menu, play and shortcut. We have the power and hold switch on the left pane. At the bottom we have the USB port and headphone jack.
The interface is very user-friendly with lot of options to customize it. Any image could be setup as wallpaper. The images are stored in folders. They could be viewed as thumbnails also, which automatically enlarges when we move through them. There are also options to rotate and enlarge the photos.
Music is sorted under various categories such as playlist, album, artist and genres. One can hear music at the same time as one views pictures or a slideshow. Music can be transferred into the player quite easily, but videos still needs some conversion. This is done through inbuilt software called Centrale.
Performance
Creative Zen Mozaic has an impressive battery performance of 9 hours with 5 hours for video. In fact, the MP3 player scored an impressive 100 percent in a battery test. The 1.8 inch TFT screen displays bright nice pictures and although the screen size is small video quality is still acceptable. The image viewing angle is good from all directions. The video has scored 30 % in overall testing.
Music is presented with complete detail. All the genres of music sound equally rich. Audio quality is excellent. you can hear every instrument in the song sounding crystal clear. Most of the common and popular audio file types such as Audible 4, MP3, WAV, and WMA are supported. The sound quality score for the MP3 player is 75 percent.
JPEG file format is supported for images. AVI (D) type videos are supported. There is a built in microphone, voice recorder and a FM radio with 32 presets. The PIM functionality makes importing contacts, tasks and calendar from Outlook possible.

The battery life is nearly nine hours. Since the MP3 player is easily portable it is worth carrying it anywhere to hear music. The built in speaker produces a rocking sound.

There are 8 preset EQ's which coan be customized according to the users need.
Wide variety of audio formats such as WMA and Audible 4 are also supported.
The MP3 player acts as a perfect companion. Be it hearing music in travel or giving wakeup alarms, it is very handy and easy to use. The ease of usage score for the device is 74 %.
The good
There are numerous good features like extensive battery life, unique design and excellent audio quality. The one step video conversion and easy transfer of contents to system and other devices are features worth mentioning. The interface is easily customizable. There is a built in FM radio with numerous presets and a voice recorder with microphone.
The not so good
The video display is quite average. It supports only XP operating system. There is no SD card slot. The tiled keys are too small and hard to use for people, with slightly large fingers. The screen is a bit small to view videos.
Areas that can be improved
Firstly, the display screen size could be increased. Then the video display could do with some improvement. In addition the MP3 player should really be designed to support other operating systems such as the MAC.
Verdict
Creative Zen Mozaic is one of the best MP3 player released by Creative Labs. There are so many special features, all of them working impressively. Creative Zen Mozaic is a best buy product for any music lover. It is very affordable also. The overall rating for the product is 86 percent mostly due to the long battery life.
