On the lower part of the screen we have the four way navigation icons, zoom and menu icons. On the upper part we have numerous icons of various applications like music, translator, calculator, voice memo etc.

eBookman functions as a normal PDA in every aspect. There is a large screen, loaded with ample applications. There is no direct web access but it does have other facilities such as sound playback and audio book reading. One can synchronize this device with Outlook through the Intellisync synchronization software. This will allow us to download all of our contacts and address books into this device. There is no direct net access but we do have very good applications which give frequent updates on local movie listings, restaurant reviews and lot of newspapers. MP3 file format is supported enabling us to hear the audio books and music. However sound quality is not that great.

Screen
The screen in Franklin eBookman has very limited 200 by 240 pixels resolution. Though it is an LCD screen there are no backlight facilities. The screen does not use the advanced e-ink technology. Long hours of reading in this device could be painful. We could not read in very dim light conditions even with the screen.

Memory
Franklin eBookman comes with great 16 MB internal memory. Numerous amounts of data could be stores with such a large memory.

Special features FRANKLIN eBOOKMAN EBM-911 One can download and store books from almost any eBook store in the internet. The performance of the reader is quite fast but battery lasts for only a short time. It comes fully equipped with a Merriam-Webster dictionary so one can find out the meaning of any word in a book at anytime. One can listen to music through the MP3 player files also. Images are not displayed very clearly in this device as there is very little resolution. This applies to some form of text also. The device is currently not compatible with Microsoft reader so passing on personal documents is difficult. The device does not have a wireless connection. The price of the device is quite high. We can get a lot of other devices with great facilities at much low cost. Speed of the device is slow. It takes long time to load and takes even longer to refresh a page or turn a page

Verdict
Franklin eBookman is a good device considering certain features like ample access to eBook stores and numerous special features. But fun oriented features alone are not enough for a proper eBook. The display lacks crispness which is the major drawback in this device. Apart from this, the speed of the issue is a great problem. It takes ages to do a task. It does not have any advanced features like touch screen. But all all these factors could be excused considering its other advantages of managing personal documents efficiently. It is a product worth considering a few times before buying.
