iRiver E150

The iRiver E150 is a conveniently sized mp3 that has all the basic functions consumers require. The player prides its self on being easy to use and has both video and audio playback capability.

iRiver E150 Description
The E150 has a 2.4 inch screen which has a resolution of 320 x 240 capable of displaying over 250,000 colors, which what you would expect from a player in this price range. The control buttons are located in the lower half of the player. There are four navigation buttons up, down, left and right and a select button located in the center of the navigation buttons. The power button and volume controls are located on the right side of the player while the hold switch is on the right.

The connectors are located on the bottom; the iRiver E150 features a USB connector, LINE IN jack and a headphone slot. The storage capacity of the player can be increased via the Micro SD card slot located on the top of the player. A drawback however is that the Micro SD card does not integrate fully with the player's internal memory and will come up in separate libraries.

The battery life for the player is about 17 hours for music and 5 hours for video.

iRiver E150 Audio and Video
The E150 features SRS WOW technology to give a better listening experience, but the quality is not that of pricier players available in the market. The standard support for audio files such as mp3, WMA and ASF is provided. The E150 is also capable of recording from multiple sources such as the provided line in, the internal mic or FM radio. All recordings are stored in WMA format. The player also features external speakers. On the video front the iRiver E150 does not provide a tremendous amount of format support. The player is capable of playing MPEG4 SP, WMV9 and XVID SP. Also the display is only able to go up to QVGA which pales in comparison to the other players available in the market.

iRiver Additional Features
The player features a FM player along with the ability to display text document and pictures. Pictures stored in JPEG, BMP, PNG and GIF can all be displayed using the iRiver E150.

The memory comes in a selection of 2GB, 4GB and 8GB although not sure why you would want anything under 8 GB these days.

Apart from these features there is not much else that the iRiver E150 has to offer in terms of bells and whistles.

The Good
The iRiver E150 is a good choice for the consumers that want to upgrade or buy a new mp3 player but do not want to put too much of a strain on their bank accounts.

The Bad
The iRiver E150 does not live up to the high quality of players you would expect from iRiver. The sound is nothing to write home about and the player lacks the additional features available on a number of other players.

The Verdict
If you are looking for an mp3 player that will do just that, play mp3s then the iRiver E150 would be an option to consider due to its low price tag. However if you are looking for something that comes with numerous features and high quality sound you are better off looking at something else.
