Insignia Kix description
Insignia Kix is a very simple affordable device. Insignia Kix also doubles as a USB connector also. It is very cheap and its plug-and-play design is so simple it is absolutely appropriate to use in a gym or while travelling. The sound quality is also very good for it's size.
Description and features:
Insignia Kix has changeable outer covers. The silver colored Kix includes a black, dark blue and maroon cover while the white set comes along with pink, blue and green cover. These covers clip on and clip off so can be changed quite easily.
Insignia Kix is similar to the early flash players. It is 3.2 inches long, 1.4 inches broad and 0.6 inch thick. Slightly larger than other similar players but considering the built-in USB plug it is of a reasonable size.
Insignia Kix has a small tricolor display screen in the middle. Adjacent to it we have a circular control pad with control buttons on all four sides. There is a special menu button at the bottom which doubles as the power button. The volume control buttons, the hold button and the headphone jack are found towards the side at the edge adjacent to the circular control pad.
All the controls including the display screen are very small. The display screen itself is only one inch long. It displays all basic information like artist name, album name, track name and battery status. It also shows the time elapsed and time remaining when the song is playing.
Insignia Kix Performance
Although the Insignia Kix is a very low cost MP3 player, it still provides decent quality sound with some valuable additional like FM Radio and Rhapsody channels.Though there isn't any video or image support this device is preferred by people who do not wish to get themselves too deep into technology.

Using the main menu one could easily choose to play music, activate the FM Radio and change the settings. The FM radio has many presets and autoscan facility.

Affordable cost and small size are one among the many attractions
The Good
Insignia Kix is a very compact, affordable MP3 player with impressive battery life. Decent sound quality for low cost, easy to use controls and FM radio with autoscan facility are its highlight. The multicolored, easily changeable covers are also a major attraction.
The not so Good
The performance of the player is somewhat slow and when switching between channels it is slowed down further. The FM reception is not so good. When music is paused for some reason there is a strange hissing sound at the background. Bass settings could be improved a lot to provide better audio quality.
Areas that Could be Improved
The overall speed of the MP3 player could be increased. Also the size of the controls and buttons are very small so it can be difficult to use them, especially for someone with big fingers. An increase in the sound quality would not go amiss either with the Insignia Kix.
The Verdict
Insignia Kix is a decent MP3 player and you could not expect mucg more for its price tag of 50 dollars. It claims to have a lot of features which most of the advanced MP3 players have. But many facilities like FM radio and sound quality could be improved a lot more for better usage.
