Registering your Kindle and the Payment Process
When we buy a new Kindle it is a good idea to register it with Amazon. The best way to do this is with the following steps:
1. Go the home screen on your Kindle
2. Click on the menu button. Keep the whispernet facility turned on
3. Use the five way control and come to settings. Select the settings button
4. Select the register option from the settings screen
5. Enter the Amazon.com username and password using the keyboard
6. Click ok to finish.
You need to register with Amazon to download or purchase the contents from its vast library. This is an easy process and once registered, you can get access to hundreds of best seller books and thousands of eBooks stored in the Amazon library.
The Amazon username and password are generally the email address given to you for your Amazon account. If any character in your username is not present in the keyboard press and hold down the symbol key in the keyboard. It will bring up a menu with all the special characters.
If you have bought a new Kindle or wish to discontinue the service follow the same method step by step and select deregister to cut the services from Amazon. This can also be done easily online by logging into your account at at www.amazon.com.
Accessing the Kindle store
Once the Kindle is registered the next step is to access the Amazon Kindle store and purchase items from them. You can purchase books as well as newspaper subscriptions, magazines and periodicals. You can also read the first chapter of a book by downloading the feed for free.
You can then decide if you want to buy it or not. There is available a free subscription for magazines for a certain period of time. One can use them and subscribe for either a long or short term subscription.
Selecting a payment method
Of course, when one applies to access any of the above, one needs to pay for them. Payment can be done through credit or debit card. One simply selects the appropriate payment method of choice. There are also other payment metho=ds available on the manage your kindle website.
Ensure you select the best payment method to suit you. The default 1-click payment method in the Amazon.com account only accepts US bank or other institution that issues US credit and debt cards. You will also require a US Billing address to make use of this service.
Customers who visit various countries frequently and those who live outside U.S. will need to find a means of using a credit or debit card accepted by Amazon in their area. Ok lets look at the steps to set up the payment methods.
To setup your payment method or to update it
log in and go to the Manage Your Kindle page at www.amazon.com.
Select "Your 1-Click payment method" link. We can find it in the right-hand side of the page under shortcuts.
Select "edit" to update the payment method. We will get a set of onscreen instructions. Follow them to finish the payment setup method.
Click the Continue button until you complete the process.
It is not necessary that one needs to pay online always using the one click method. But we definitely need to use it for placing any digital order. Once the payment method is setup you are free to purchase any books at any point of time.
You will need to be in the Whispernet coverage area to avail the full facilities of the Kindle. You then visit the Amazon Kindle store in your Kindle, select the book or subscribe to the feed you want, and click on purchase. Money will be detected automatically from your payment setup. The books or magazines will be delivered to you wirelessly within few minutes.
Conclusion
If you want to cancel the subscription to any of the magazines just click on the unsubscribe option. If you want to change your payment mode at any point of time just follow the same steps and edit the settings.
