SONY WALKMAN MP3 Description and Features
The Sony NWZ-E443 MP3 player is a sleek, slim portable device. It provides good music with many other additional features such as FM radio. It is very affordable and very easy to use with simple controls.

The Sony NWZ-E443 MP3 player has the normal design as its other common MP3 players. Its dimensions are 86 x 44 x 9mm. There is small QVGA screen with 320 x 240 pixel resolution. The screen is covered with glossy cover.

Below that we have a five way D pad with two special buttons Back and Option on either side of it at the top. It gives a Mickey Mouse like look to the whole setup. As the name indicates the back button is used to navigate one step back and when held down longer takes us to the home screen. The option button doubles as switch off button.

The D pad and the controls around it are used to browse through the libraries and select a song. They are also used to forward and rewind a track. At the lower side of the unit we have a 3.5mm headphone jack and a Sony WM port. On the right side we have volume control rockers and lock sliders.

SONY WALKMAN MP3 Performance:
The Sony NWZ-E443 MP3 player performs practically well in all aspects. The audio quality is very good. Audio file formats like MP3, AAC-LC, WAV and WMA are supported. As in most Sony players, sound quality is good without any disturbance. Video formats such as AVC, MPEG-4 and WMV are supported. Video display is also acceptable. It could be rated average.

The menus are normal to use and navigation is easy. Since the player does not have very advanced features, no complex operation is needed. This MP3 player supports both MAC as well as Windows operating system. They will work in MTP mode with windows systems and UMS mode in non windows system.

Memory could not be expanded as there is no SD card slot. Battery life is good with 24 hours standby time for audio and 4 hours for video. This MP3 player has a fully advanced built in FM Radio with FM tuner, autoscaning facilities and 30 presets. Voice recording facilities are also present.

Sony NWZ-E443 MP3 player has some useful inbuilt software such as Content Transfer and Media Manager. The former is useful while purchasing music from iTunes and the later is useful when music is bought in from other sources other than iTunes. They carry out basic conversion steps. The overall speed of the unit could be rated average. Both navigation speed and data transfer speed are average.

Sony NWZ-E443 has an improved, attractive design. The menus are easy to use and navigation is quite fast.

The battery lasts for nearly 24 hours with audio and six hours when video is viewed.

The FM radio has 30 presets. It includes autoscan facilities, voice recording facility and a good FM tuner.

All modern audio file formats such as AAC-LC, WAV and WMA are supported. Even advanced video formats such as AVC and MPEG-4 are supported.

Useful inbuilt software proves very useful in data conversion and transfer.

Sony NWZ-E443 supports Windows as well as MAC operating system.

The Good
Sony NWZ-E443 MP3 player has many good features like professional sound quality, good video quality and enhanced FM radio settings. Useful internal software and easily understandable navigation controls and menus make this MP3 player very user friendly. The ease if usage scores for the set is 73 percent. Sound quality score for the unit is 70 percent. Multiple OS support is another advantage.

The Bad
The overall speed of the device is only average. The display screen with gloss finish tends to be very scratch borne. Video quality is also very average. The performance of the unit tends to slow down further when data is transferred. Lack of extendable memory slots is also a drawback.

Areas that can be Improved
The Quality of video need improvement, the QVGA screen acts like a scratch magnet. It would be helpful if the glossy coating is modified to make it more durable. Only basic audio file formats are supported. This may be modified for better usage.

The Verdict
Sony NWZ-E443 MP3 player is an average portable MP3 player which provides good quality audio in an affordable cost. It provides some good additional features like FM radio and video support. Considering the price tag these features are quite good. Considering the quality they could be rated average. The overall score of the device is 72 percent.
