Sony E Series Walkman

For decades Sony has been synonymous with the portable music industry. The E-Series walkman lives up to that prestigious heritage and delivers quite a punch for its price.

The E-series feature a screen, impressive battery life and easy to use software which allows music to be updated by simply dragging the files to the player. The sleek design of the player means it can be slipped into a pocket or in a bag without any problems.

Sony E-series Walkman Description For an mp3 player that is in the sub $100 range, the E-series boast a crisp 2 inch LCD and an impressive 50 hour battery life. The bottom half of the player is where the main controls are located. The standard buttons such as forwards, reverse, play and pause are provided along with an option and back button. The player has a compact form factor and measures just 0.3 inches in depth, 3.2 inches in height and 1.7 inches in width. There are three color options available an all black version, a red version with a black top or a blue version with a black top.

The right side of the player features the volume up/down control and the hold switch while the bottom of the player you can find the standard 3.5 inch headphone jack and the mini USB port which is used to connect the player to the computer.

The player has an impressive battery life of over 50 hour when listening to music and over 10 hours when watching video.

Loading files on to the player is quite a walk in the park. A drag and drop interface is used and the player is also compatible with popular softwares such as iTunes, Windows Media Player and Rhapsody. The E-series Walkman is also compatible with Macs. The player also has additional features such as a built in FM radio and alarm clock.

Sony E-Series Audio and Video As would be expected from Sony the sound quality of the player is quite exceptional. The various bands all come across clearly with the player providing warm low tones and sparkling high tones via the 5 band equalizer. The equalizer can be adjusted to suit personal taste to ensure you get the best quality of music.

While the 2 inch screen is not really large enough to watch movies in a group it is quite sufficient for personal use. The colors and images are clean and clear and the viewing angle is also quite large. The one complaint about the screen is that it picks up glare and can spoil the video experience.

The Good The E-series player is the right fit for people that want a simple player that does not take up too much space. The audio quality of the player while not top shelf will be good enough for a majority of the consumers.

The Bad The lack of support for podcasts and other Sony features such as noise cancellation.

The Verdict For the price range this is one of the leading mp3 Players. At under $100 the E-series walkman is in the price range of the iPod shuffle but features a screen and can play videos.
