TOUR ON KINDLE CONTROLS

Amazon Kindle eBook reader has numerous useful controls. Let us see about the important controls in all the three versions of Kindle. All the three kindle versions have some controls in common. On the top we have a Power Switch and a Headphone Jack.

TOUR ON KINDLE CONTROLS

1. If we slide and release the power button after a slight pressure it switches on the kindle.
2. If we repeat the same process again kindle goes to sleep mode
3. If we hold down this power switch for four seconds kindle will get switched off.
4. If we disconnect the kindle from the power and hold it down for 15 seconds the device will reset.
Next is the Home screen. Again the settings in the home screen are similar is all the three kindles.

TOUR ON KINDLE CONTROLS

As we see in the picture the Home screen in all the kindles, will have eleven parts giving the basic info about the books.

First we have the Device name which is actually our own kindle name. To the right side of this we have the sort options. Books could be sorted based on their title, author, size, date and various other genres. On the right side we have the show options item which will list all titles. In the middle of the home screen we have the book titles listed with the name of the author and purchase date at the left side. The titles are marked as archive, read titles, unread titles and sample titles. Audio books and page numbers are marked on the left hand side of the kindle.

Apart from these main controls the physical design of the Amazon kindle differs slightly in all the three kindle versions. Let us see about it in detail The first generation kindle has a design different from the other two kindles. The main keyboard is split into two for easy access and is found below the screen. We have the special symbol keys, text keys, home button, back button and menu button all arranged in a neat row at the bottom of the keyboard. We have the previous button, back button and the next buttons placed on either side of the screen. Adjacent to the display screen we have a cursor control moving through the small scrolling wheel at the bottom. This cursor is used to select and browse through the huge list of titles.

TOUR ON KINDLE CONTROLS

On the left side of the kindle we have the previous page button and the next button used toggle between the pages. On the right side we have the home button and the next page button. We have the volume controls on the side to control the speaker while listening to audiobooks and music.

We have a menu button on the left side displaying the navigation choices based on the application chosen in the home screen. We also have a 5-way controller used to browse and select through the huge lists of titles. We have a full fledged keyboard below the screen.

We have two special keys called symbol and text. Symbols keys list all the punctuation marks while the text key helps in changing the size of the text while reading. The back button is used to view the previous links and titles accessed.

This is the basic setup of any kindle. All the controls in this kindle are found in the other two versions of the kindle also. But their arrangement is slightly different.

Kindle DX
TOUR ON KINDLE CONTROLS All the controls in the kindle are arranged on the right side of the kindle. This kindle is relatively slim compared to the other kindles in the market. We have a keyboard below the long screen. On the right side we have the home button, next button and previous buttons. We also have the five way controls the menu and the back buttons on the right side. All the controls are placed in a single line adjacent to the screen. On the rear side of the device we have the USB port and the headphone jack.

Conclusion
As we say the controls in all the three kindles are more or less the same, only difference being in their arrangement. However these controls increase the ease of usage and helps in making the kindle a more desirable device.
